The rules
ViralVote is a game about arguing over silly questions. Be as competitive as you like. Just don't be a problem for other people.
You write only two things here: the name you pick and, if you make a friends league, that league's name. Your avatar is built from pieces we give you. So the rules are short.
Your name
Don't use a name that:
- is a slur or hate speech, about race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability or anything like it;
- is sexual, violent, or about hurting yourself or anyone else;
- pretends to be someone else: another player, a celebrity, or anyone from ViralVote;
- has your contact details: your email, phone number, address, or a link or handle for another app. Don't put those on a leaderboard. Not for our sake, for yours;
- belongs to someone else: a brand, a trademark, a company.
We check every name automatically before it's saved. If yours gets rejected, pick another one.
How you play
Don't:
- cheat: no bots, scripts, modified apps or emulators;
- use more than one account;
- team up with someone to fix a race;
- exploit a bug. Tell us about it instead;
- harass anyone, including by mass-reporting them.
Friends leagues
You can make your own league and invite people with a code.
Everyone in the league sees its name. So the rules for your own name apply to a league name too: no slurs, nothing sexual or violent, nothing pretending to be someone or some brand, and no contact details or links. We check every league name automatically, and again every time it's changed.
Your league is private. Nobody can browse it, search for it or find it. The only way in is a code you hand out, and you still have to say yes before that person joins.
If a code has gone somewhere you didn't mean it to go, make a new one. The old one stops working.
If you made the league, you can: rename it, say yes or no to people asking to join, remove someone, pick a helper to do those things with you, hand the league over, or delete it. That's all. You can't see anything about members that they don't already show everyone.
People in a friends league with you can see when you're online and when you were last on. Nobody else can.
You can leave a league whenever you want. No waiting, no lock, including a league you were invited to by someone who turned out to be a problem.
There's no chat
You can't send anyone a message, and nobody can send you one. There's nowhere to type a sentence to another player: not on an invite, not on a request, not anywhere. If someone is trying to sneak a message into a name, theirs or a league's, report it.
If someone's a problem
Report them from their name in the game. We read every report. To report a league name, email support@viralvoteapp.com.
Block them and you'll never be matched with them again, and you won't see their name. They aren't told.
If you block someone who's in a league with you, we hide their name and picture from you. We don't throw them out of the league, because that would tell them you blocked them. If you'd rather not share a league with them at all, leave it. It's one tap.
We look at reports about a child's safety first.
What happens if you break the rules
Depending on what you did, we might:
- change your name to something neutral and ask you to pick a new one;
- warn you;
- pause your account for a while;
- close your account.
If the problem is a league you made, we might rename it (everyone in it is told that we changed it, not you), delete it, or stop you making new leagues. If we do, we tell you why.
Slurs and hate speech, threats, and anything that puts a child at risk go straight to the most serious end. There's no warning for those.
If you think we got it wrong
Email support@viralvoteapp.com and tell us what happened. A person will look at it again and reply.
Telling us about something illegal
This one isn't only for players. If you think anything in ViralVote (a player's name, a league's name, a question, a picture) is against the law, tell us. You don't need an account or the app. Our report page says what to send and what happens next.
One more thing
Some of the racers you meet are house players: racers we run, not people. They race by the same rules as you and can finish anywhere, even first. Their names and pictures are made up. We use them so there's always a race ready.
